"Jinx"
Thoroughbred Gelding
Jockey Club Name: Power Wheels
March 13, 1999- July 20, 2006
Jinx
was purchased in May of 2006 as Heidi's next eventing prospect. He was
what you might call an 'impulse purchase', as she committed to buying him
without ever seeing him in person, and hoping he was what she wanted. Coming
off the racetrack, Jinx raced 28 times and won nearly $25,000 before spending
some time working on a feedlot. In the end, Jinx was not a disappointment
- in fact, he was better than Heidi could have imagined.
Jinx quickly progressed in his training upon his arrival, and within no time was schooling over fences and preparing for his showing debut in the fall. A pleasure to work with and be around, Heidi was sure this horse would do exceptionally well in the show ring.
Tragically, Jinx died barely two months after Heidi brought him home from Wyoming. A freak summer storm moved through and Jinx was struck by lightning, dying immediately. It was a difficult loss and although he was only here for such a brief amount of time, it is certain that Jinx was one of the most talented horses Heidi has owned.
"Jinx was with me for
far too short of a time, but long enough to make a huge impact on my heart and
my life. Jinx was an amazingly talented horse that we never got to share
with the world. He had a cute, childish personality with a willing to work attitude. The
devastating loss of this horse was sudden and tragic. Rest in peace, my
good friend . . ."
