Moving Illusion
2000 Thoroughbred Gelding
Jockey Club Name: Awesome Minister

Gemini joined us in August of 2006 and quickly showed us what a talented young prospect he was! Formerly in training as a hunter/jumper, Heidi immediately began re-training him as an event horse and found that he was a natural in the dressage ring. After introducing him to cross country fences, it was very clear that Gem would hold a very promising future in the event world! Just a month after his purchase, Gemini competed in his first combined test, finishing clean on his dressage score. He followed that up with an astounding dressage test at his first recognized horse trial where he brought home a blue ribbon!
Gemini has come a long way from his start on the racetrack where he ran five times with not a single win, place or show. He is certainly proof that there are so many untalented racing thoroughbreds out there that can be so much more successful in a career away from the racetrack.
In 2007, Gemini's first full season eventing, Heidi & Gemini clinched several year end awards at both the local and national level. In the USEA Area IX standings, Gemini was the 4th highest leading Beginner Novice level horse. In the MSEA standings, Gemini was the Reserve Champion Beginner Novice horse. For CCC, Heidi & Gemini were the Senior Beginner Novice Champions.
In 2008, Heidi & Gemini headed to the east coast to
train with instructor Phyllis Dawson and compete in Area II. Gemini was
successful at Novice, always finishing in the ribbons and jumping double clean
and moved up to training level mid-summer with equally successful results.
They wrapped up the season with a 4th place finish at Waredaca's Training Level
3-Day event, completing a full 3-day format event with no jumping penalties.
In 2009, Heidi & Gemini moved up to Preliminary level, having successful runs at the level. They finished the year by competing in the Open Training division at the American Eventing Championships in Chicago Illinois and placing 6th in a very large professional division.
The very difficult decision to sell Gemini was made in 2010. In June, Gemini was sold to a very talented young rider in Connecticut and has continued to be competitive at training and preliminary as his new rider is getting to know him. We expect they will have a very promising future together!
